Privacy Policy - Budget Pesa

Budget Pesa is an Android app published by The OK Company (THE ONLINE KNOWLEDGE COMPANY LTD) in Kenya.

Your data stays on your device

Budget Pesa works offline and has no internet permission. The OK Company does not collect or receive your SMS messages, transactions, or other financial data.

The app has no accounts, advertising, analytics, or tracking.

SMS access

With your permission, Budget Pesa reads your SMS inbox to find supported M-Pesa and bank transaction messages and build a local transaction history.

  • The app explains why it needs SMS access before requesting permission.
  • Messages are processed on your device.
  • Transaction details are stored only on your device.
  • Full SMS messages are not copied into the app's storage.
  • Unsupported messages are skipped.
  • You can revoke SMS access at any time in Android Settings.

Storage and deletion

Budget Pesa stores its records in Android's private app storage. Android cloud backup is disabled for the app.

Your records remain on your device until you clear them or uninstall the app. Reset data clears Budget Pesa's transaction data but does not delete the original messages from your SMS inbox. Uninstalling the app removes its local app data.

App lock

You can optionally protect Budget Pesa with your fingerprint or device screen lock. Android performs the authentication. Budget Pesa does not access or store your biometric data.

Sharing

Budget Pesa does not upload, sell, or share your SMS or financial data with The OK Company or any third party.

Children

Budget Pesa is a personal finance tool for adults and is not directed at children.

Contact

You do not need to provide access to your app data when contacting us, and we cannot access data stored inside Budget Pesa.

Changes to this policy

If Budget Pesa's data practices change, we will update this policy and its effective date before the change is released.
